What is PathAware®?+
A retrofit forklift safety system that installs on the vehicle. It detects pedestrians, vehicles, objects and fixed infrastructure around the truck and warns the operator in real time. Higher tiers turn those detected events into safety intelligence, and add operator check-in and access control, digital pre-operation inspections and utilization reporting through the same on-vehicle system.
What does "safety intelligence" mean here?+
Every risk PathAware® detects can become a record. From IQ upward, those records are captured across the fleet and presented as dashboards: where, when and how risks are occurring, which vehicles, areas, operators and shifts carry the most risk, and whether corrective actions are reducing it over time.
What is the difference between Core, IQ and IQ+?+
Core warns operators as risks appear. IQ turns safety events into intelligence you can act on and adds operator check-in and access control. IQ+ extends that to digital pre-operation inspections and utilization reporting.
What is the Onboard Hub?+
The in-cab device on IQ and IQ+. It delivers real-time collision warnings and, depending on the tier, operator check-in, access control, digital inspections, incident reporting and utilization data. Core runs the Operator Display instead.
Do pedestrians have to wear tags?+
No. Pedestrian detection is tagless, so people are detected without carrying anything, including visitors and contractors. The NFC card or Litum tag used at the Onboard Hub identifies the operator; it is not what detects people on foot.
Do I need RTLS, anchors or a mesh network?+
No. The system travels with the forklift, so it works without anchors, a facility-wide mesh or any other fixed infrastructure. RTLS stays available later as an expansion, not a requirement.
Do I have to equip the whole fleet at once?+
No. Deployment happens truck by truck, so you can start with the vehicles and aisles where risk is highest and expand across the fleet or to other sites from there. Different tiers can run on different vehicles in the same fleet.
I have a mixed fleet of brands and models. Does that matter?+
No. PathAware® is brand and model agnostic, and the retrofit design means counterbalance trucks, reach trucks and order pickers all run the same system. You standardize the safety system without standardizing the fleet, and every vehicle reports into the same dashboards.
My forklifts are leased. Can I still install it?+
Yes. The system is a retrofit that mounts to the truck rather than modifying it, so it suits leased vehicles as well as owned ones. When a lease ends, the hardware comes off and moves to the replacement truck, and the operator, incident and utilization history stays with your account.
How does PathAware® compare with camera-based systems?+
PathAware® runs up to 80% more cost-efficient than computer vision solutions. It needs no multi-camera coverage and no AI model training, so performance is consistent from day one rather than improving over a tuning period. Sensor fusion works in dust, darkness and glare, and detection is processed with minimal latency, where image analysis can delay a warning.
Does PathAware® use cameras or record footage?+
No. Detection is sensor-based rather than camera-based, so there is no video feed, no image storage and no facial recognition anywhere in the system. Nothing about how a person looks is captured or processed.
Does PathAware® support ISO 3691-4?+
Yes. PathAware® aligns with ISO 3691-4 and helps companies meet forklift safety standards without relying on wearable tags. Tagged and hybrid deployments are supported where site requirements call for them.
What is the difference between a warning and automatic slowdown?+
A warning alerts the operator so they can react. Automatic slowdown reduces the vehicle's speed when a defined risk is detected or when the truck enters a configured area. Slowdown is available on any tier through the SlowDown add-on.
How does the commercial model work?+
Core, IQ and IQ+ run on a per-vehicle subscription. Hardware, software, updates and support are covered in one monthly fee per forklift, so there is no capital purchase to approve, and the subscription follows the fleet as trucks are added or retired. Add-ons are available on any tier.
