"Asset Tracking" RFID Tags and "Employee Tracking" RFID Tags
These tags are larger than most passive RFID tags, but provide a read range of up to 100 feet with sub-meter location accuracy. An active RFID tag usually features an antenna, microchip, battery, and a host of onboard electronics. Some of these tags include (motion, temperature, tamper sensor, etc.) to provide essential data about assets. For instance, you can set up a tag to monitor the temperature of a vehicle engine, making sure that this piece of equipment is never overworked.
Active RFID Staff ID Badges
Litum offers a slim active RFID ID badge with room for a photograph and printed employee information. These Badge Tags come with two programmable buttons, and one could be used as a panic button to signal for help in case of emergency.
Built-in HF or LF RFID allows for near instantaneous access control of sensitive areas and assets, without having to set up a manual login system. Employees will be granted access to locked doors and tools automatically. Each comes with a rechargeable battery that can last up to three months on a single charge.
Asset Tags
There are at least three RFID tags available for clients from Litum RTLS. Some of these tags could be used as an ID tag or an asset tag. The available options are as follows:
Coco Tag
The water and dust resistant Coco Tag is great as both a personnel and RFID equipment tracking system. It also features a panic button option and comes with a tamper-evident seal. You’ll know if someone tries to take your equipment from the facility. Its rechargeable battery boasts a battery life of up to one year.
Kiwi Tag
The cute Kiwi Tag is useful in an RFID tracking system for tools and staff and comes with a panic button option. Although, this petite tag may be better suited for indoor use. Its rechargeable battery is good for up to six months at a time. You’ll have very minimal maintenance required when using this tag.
Mango Tag
Built primarily for outdoor applications, the Mango Tag is useful in an RFID tracking system for tools, vehicles, and motorized equipment. It provides vehicle status monitoring and tracking. You’ll be able to monitor the operation of equipment from afar and know when it’s time for maintenance.
Plus, the Mango offers access control with an optional driver ID card reader. The reader will unlock the controls and allow the vehicle to start only when an employee with the correct certifications uses it. Businesses can recharge the battery or connect the Mango to the vehicle’s battery.
This tag also comes with an optional GSM module, if you prefer to track assets using the GSM telephone system rather than installing RFID readers.
What About Other RFID Tag Options?
Companies may be interested in combining their active RFID asset tracking and employee tracking system with passive tracking. These RFID tags are usually slim and unobtrusive; some are even paper-thin and flexible. They only feature an antenna and a simple integrated circuit or chip. Since they don’t have an internal power source, passive tags are useful for item-level tracking, such as documents and files.
This type of tag is readable up to three meters but doesn’t provide real-time location monitoring. You’ll only be able to track these passive tags as they pass within the range of RFID readers.
